How do I configure the C6300 cable modem router for Vonage VoIP service?

Introduction:
Vonage VoIP users with NETGEAR C6300 cable modem router may need to make a small change to their configuration to ensure that their Vonage service continues to perform well. This article provides a step by step process used to configure C6300 ensuring you get the best performance out of your Vonage VoIP service.
Symptoms:
  • Poor voice quality
  • Unable to make calls
  • Unable to receive calls
  • Unable to hear sound from the other end.
Resolution:
To configure your C6300 for Vonage VoIP service:
  1. Log into your C6300’s admin page by typing http://www.routerlogin.net or 192.168.0.1 in the address bar.
  2. Enter the C6300’s user name and password. The default username is “admin” and password is “password”.
  3. Under the Basic tab, select "Network Map" to find the IP address of your Vonage device.
  4. Once Vonage VoIP IP address has been located, click "ADVANCED" tab.
  5. Select "Setup" then "WAN Setup" at the left panel.

  1. Check the box "Default DMZ Server" to enable DMZ.

  2. Click "Apply".
  3. You Vonage VoIP service is now setup correctly.
